(Mailing List Information, including unsubscription instructions, is located at the end of this message.) MaxFunCon: What You Need to Know By Jesse Thorn, Proprietor, MaximumFun.org Activity Signups We'll have two blocks of elective activities on Saturday. Space in the various activities is limited, so we've created an online signup system. Signups will go live on maxfuncon.com on Monday, May 18th, and will be first-come, first-served. Sign up for one activity for session A and one for session B. Signups will be available on-site if you don't sign up in advance, but some activities are likely to be full. Arrival Check-in begins at 4PM on Friday. You'll receive your room assignment from the front desk. Once you've dropped your things and introduced yourself to the person or people you're sharing your cabin with, head straight to the registration and welcome reception upstairs in the main building. We'll have a special Columbian Exposition punch prepared by Dr. Cocktail, music and social time, and we'll be handing out your conference materials and checking you in. Departure MaxFunCon ends with lunch on Sunday. You can either take your lunch to go at around noon, or leave after lunch around 1PM. Room Assignments I'm pretty sure we've honored every request we've gotten for room assignments. There are a variety of slightly different rooms, and many people are sharing some space with someone they don't know. So be nice and considerate and all that. Attire Dress is casual. Weather in Lake Arrowhead in June is typically mild in the day and cool in the evening. Please bring layers for our outdoor show and social time Friday evening. Meals All food and drink at MaxFunCon is free. If you have special dietary requirements (vegetarian, kosher, etc), please let me know via email ASAP. Directions You can find directions to MaxFunCon's site, the UCLA Lake Arrowhead Conference Center, here: http://www.maxfuncon.com/2008/08/directions-transportation.html . We recommend you follow the directions, rather than following the edicts of a GPS or Google Maps, as the folks at the center tell us the robots sometimes take you there the long way. Parking Parking is available and free at the Conference Center, but we strongly suggest you consider carpooling to Lake Arrowhead. You can find folks interested in carpooling on our forum at http://forum.maximumfun.org . S'Mores Yes, there will be s'mores. Your Heroes I bet that like me you really love the folks who are performing at MaxFunCon. They are all really nice. Be nice to them like they're normal people, because they are. That, of course, goes for non-performers as well. In general, be nice at MaxFunCon. Sponsors Our special thanks go to Metafilter, the awesome community weblog, and Schmaltz Brewing Company, creators of He'Brew (the Chosen Beer) for helping us out.
